Buying components but no installing right away.

So I have finally decided to start building my new pc, but I don't have all the money at once and since im horrible at saving I will be buying all my parts over time. What I want to know is that say I buy like ram and I just have it sit till I get everything else, god forbid the ram is DOA, will I be out of my money because I went over the 30 warranty?

The in-store refund/return/replacement warranty starts ticking from the moment you pick up your order so if you find out that the memory or other component is DOA later, you will have to deal directly with the manufacturer.

Unless there is a killer deal that you absolutely must buy now, I would recommend holding onto the money until you are actually ready to build since better components and price shuffling may occur before you are done collecting parts. If you still want to buy components piecewise, focus on parts you can use as upgrades for your existing PC first.

Depends on the retailer, but normally the return period does start from the purchase date. Unfortunately this would mean that you would be stuck dealing with the manufacturer, which in your case looks like G.skill, never have dealt with them personally.
