Hello, first of all, I already have one laptop, which I use as a semi-daily driver for about 5 years now, but idea is to pass it away to another person and buy a new one for me for a comparable price and not necessarily breaking the budget. I also have a desktop pc that I use for gaming.

I copied a question from the sticky thread:

1. What is your budget? 600-750 euros, can extend a bit if it is a big improvement

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? Dont really care, but I am looking for something light and small, so probably 14 inch

3. What screen resolution do you want? 1080+

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? Already have a desktop for heavy lifting, so portable, good battery, good productivity

5. How much battery life do you need? The more - better, the idea is to take it with me on travels or stay with it outside during summer. So this is quite important for me.

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High) - not a primary thing, but would not mind som light fps gaming

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.) - some light photo/video editing on the go, maybe some work with eclipse, IntelliJ, mainly will be used for browsing, movies, work on the go and so as I travel quite a lot just as a general driver, take a laptop with me on trip

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? - would prefer more - better, the current laptop has 1TB, and it is almost full (could probably free a lot if needed though) So Probably need at least 500gb

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links. - local stores, I will post some laptops in my head below

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop? - previous one did fine for 5 years and seems to be doing fine still, would like to have something of at least that quality or more

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? - not a primary thing, but would like cd/dvd drive, but I see a lot of laptops come without it now

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. - had a good experience with HP and Lenovo laptops but never tried other brands, also I am more of AMD fanboy than intel, so would prefer AMD laptop.

13. What country do you live in? - Latvia

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.

So I have been looking through what we have on offer and got a few options to choose from

1) Acer Acer Swift 3 (NX.HSEEP.002)
Ryzen 5 4500U

Price = 702 Euros

2) Lenovo ThinkPad E14 (20T60026MH)
Ryzen 5 4500U
8gb ram (???)
ssd 256 (low)

81YM006XPB = 636 euros

4) Lenovo Legion 5 (82B500ADPB)
Ryzen 5 4600H

747 euro

6) Asus VivoBook Flip 14
AMD Ryzen 5 4500U
8GB ram
SSD 256 (low)
AMD Ryzen 5 4500U
8GB Soldered DDR4-3200
90NB0RN1-M02710 - 669 euro

I guess any laptop with 256gb is a kind of a deal-breaker for me, and Lenovo legion - it would be a waste to overpay for some gaming functionality I will not use... but I am not sure. Any suggestions?

The ideapad 5 14ARE05 looks pretty good.
If you need more storage, maybe pick up a 512GB USB drive. Some of them barely stick out of the side of the port. I wouldn't run programs or process huge data files from the USB drive but for basic file storage it should work well.
