Hello

I'm buying a laptop. Please recommend your choice below according to the specs.

Purpose: For mixed use with some gaming and for a 9 year old to do homework and online playing. Which option would be better suited for longevity over about 3 years?

Cheaper to upgrade the RAM or the SSD to make it last longer?

Live in the UK.

Thanks in advance.

Dell Latitude
i5 4th GEN
2.7GHz
128Gb SSD
8GB RAM
Windows10
Intel HD 4400 GFX

OR

Windows10

The first one has a bit better integrated graphics and has the upside on Ram but downside on the clock speed and SSD storage.
Now, the second one has a better clock speed and more storage but only 4GB.
So what i would recommend you to do is buy the second one for 265 because first of all, having a faster and better SSD is very important in a laptop, and if you want to to get more ram, getting another 4GB stick only costs 30-60 quid. So it's cheaper to get the second one.

Yes, I agree with the second, too. However, these two laptops don't have dedicated graphic card which is required for your gaming. With Intel HD graphics, you won't enjoy playing games. They'll lag and run slow.
If you seek longevity that much, you'd better buy a new unused laptop. Nevertheless, if you are lucky, the laptop won't turn out to be defective.
