First off, I'm a gamer and I do have the most basic stuff in place...
I know how to build a pc, it's just the details that doesn't seem to sink in :heink:
Anyway

I have a Gigabyte GA-X48T-DQ6 motherboard
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2765

What would be the absolute best memory I could put in my rig? Well almost best... something normal gamers can afford...
Maybe a top three....?

I'm not sure if I'm understanding it correctly, but it supports 8GB at the most even in 64bit Windows 7?
I'm also buying a 2GB ATI 4890 (because they're cheap  ) , does that affect the amount off memory it can handle (I read it did)?

I'm not a big OC'er, so what ever I put in will remain in stock/default settings.

Your motherboard will support DDR3 PC3-8500,DDR3 PC3-10600,DDR3 PC3-12800 with a maximum of 2GB per slot. You can always go for Kingston, Crucial, corsair, AUM. All these are branded RAM and would help you in a long run.

Hope this will help you.

I was looking up my CPU (775 CORE2 QUAD Q9450 2.66 GHz FSB1333 2x6MB)

Is the memory also limited by the CPU and vice-versa?
Making it pointless to go for 1600mhz memory?

Sorry for being such a newb...

His mobo supports up to DDR3 1800 (PC3 14400)
