Hello guys. I am going to buy a new modem because the one my internet provider gives me is not the best neither for etherne nor for wifi

My question is: Is it going to make any difference, if i pick a modem with 1000 Mbps, over the the one with 100 Mbps?(that is for ethernet use)

The same question goes for the wi-fi. Will a modem with 867Mbps make any difference from one with 300 Mbps?

The purpose is for faster and smother gaming not for any kind of transfer or network.

Solution
When it comes to how fast your internet is, your internet is probably not that fast. either speed will work perfectly for internet.

The extra speed really comes into play when you are doing home networking, like sharing movies to another computer in the house. Having a large bandwidth is great for a extremely fast and powerful home network.

I personally do find the value in 1000Mbps hardware over 100Mbps. But I do alot of home network sharing.

Even though i pay for 24 Mbps i only get 9 according to speedtest.net! So it wont make any difference at all... hmmm good to know now i can save some money and go for a modem with good wifi signal over one with just big Mbps speed.

I have moved house since my last post here. So now I am in a house with FttP (Fibre-to-the-Premises for those outside of Aus)

We are on a 100/40Mb plan. I have totally downloaded off of steam at my full speed of about 10MBps it can even peak at 12MBps.

that being said most of the downloads done are not at those speeds. you are generally at the mercy of the content server and the quite inconsistant NBN network.

most gaming requires much less than 1 mbps and so you won't notice a difference between 100 and 1k. the only time you will see the difference is during speed test or downloads. Some websites might let you download at over a 100 mbps but i don't know of many.

Can you please name those websites?
