hi all,
internal hard disc of my sony vaio laptop crashed. So, I have to buy a new internal hard disc for the same.
now the query is about,
(1) does Vaio contain some specific different kind of internal hard disk, or it is same in all laptops( i-5 processor)
(2) also, my previous hard disc had 500GB memory, in case i upgrade it to 1TB or so, will it have any adverse effect on my laptop functioning/ slow down my laptop.?

I don't know about Sony but some manufacturers have been known to alter their HDD boot sectors and BIOS to look for each other and refuse to boot if not present. It's their way of compelling owners to buy replacement HDDs from them at inflated prices. Isn't that grand?

Hi, upgrading to 1 Tb shouldn't slow down your computer at all. Just keep in mind, it wont make it faster either. I would look on newegg for a laptop hard drive, they should all fit. Take a look at the dimensions of your laptop hard drive and compare them to the one you are about to buy. Good luck, Pajamarine
