Hi guys, I am going to buy a new motherboard for my gaming pc, due to the sound card on the old one biting the dust recently and becoming rather out dated.
I have been leaning towards the MSI Z97I Gaming ACK, but i am not sure if it will run with my system, i have an old i7 cpu, but going to replace it soon with an intel I5-4690K, a 550 wat PSU and a gtx 760... would this run with my current system, and if not would what would be a better option in the similar price range ($250 in Australia)
Thanks

I'm not very good with computers sorry, but how do i know if the socket is 1150?... it is a intel core i7-2600 @ 3.40 GHz

It's socket 1155 and the MSI Z97I Gaming ACK is socket 1150. If you buy it, you'll need to buy a new compatible CPU. Your old CPU still is powerful.

at that, the motherboard and processors are several hundred dollars cheaper if i buy them from the US, would they be any different from one from Australia... just dont want to buy one that doesnt work in my rig lol

Parts sold in the US and Australia are the same; but you wouldn't save much once you take into account the exchange rate. Also bear in mind that parts bought in the US often can only be returned to the US if they are defective and need to be fixed or exchanged.

As an example, an i5-4690K costs $240 US on Newegg.com; it costs $327 AUD on MegaBuy.com.au. At a 1.293 exchange rate, $240 US is $310 AUD; therefore you'd save $17 before shipping, taxes, etc.
