Hi, currently my psu is the Coolermaster G750M but I am looking for a new one since this one broke, should i be looking for one with a higher watt for futureproofness? my setup is a gtx980ti and i5 4590k with 16gb ddr4. I was considering getting the same one since it worked perfectly, however, maybe i should look at a better one?

Thanks

No, 650W would be enough for a 1080 ti/8700K with overclocking, anything higher is for SLI rendering systems or mining. As for SLI I wouldn't even bother considering it for gaming as the drivers are pretty rare so performance may not be better then a single GPU.

Is it not better to get a higher watt like 750+? since i will be upgrading my pc in the future.

No, quality is far more important. 550w will even be enough for your build, as it consumes just ~350w at a gaming load.

I suggest one of these power supplies: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/products/compare/Rp8H99,bkp323,zBfmP6,B8RFf7/
