Hey. I am buying a SSD, but I can't seem to find out what SATA the motherboard is using. so my question is: I'm sure its SATA it's using, will it work with a SSD sata-600 if its not 600 by any chance?

Thanks!

If you can't figure out the motherboard for some reason, you can try connecting by COLOR of the SATA connector.

If you have only ONE color it doesn't matter (like Brown).

If you have more than one then you have multiple SATA controllers.

So run an SSD benchmark, shutdown and switch to another color if you have it and run a benchmark again.

Benchmarks:
Samsung - Samsung Magician
Other SSD's - their own program, or

hey ´thanks for the answers. they are all one color - red. the system is: Lenovo, machine type 90B8, Product family Lenovo H30 - 50

that's all I know. furthermore I think about the PSU (AcBel, PCB020, ELIG) not sure what else there is to it. it is a 'rather' new gaming computer, but can I be sure the cables from the PSU fits the SSD aswell?

Also. I know I said it is a gaming computer. however its going to be used for work, with a rather heavy program (specs are above recommended for the program, so that's nice) however. it is running windows 8.1. and I think about buying windows 7 for it, and install it on the new SSD. is that a good idea?

thanks!
