Here's everything and I'm about to pull the trigger. My son's 16th is coming up and this is his present. I'll be reusing some peripherals. He plays CS:GO a lot and some other games. Will this be good for a couple of years? Tks much

Im a csgo player and i have been playing it for a lot of time at high ranks so i can talk a lot of that game.
With that pc he will have 0 problems playing it and actually is a pretty good pc for gaming in general, thats a great gift he will totally enjoy that and he will have pc for years.
Also csgo is not a game to play on superhigh settings every good player drops the quality ingame to the min to have the max performance so if he doesnt play a lot of demanding games and he only plays thatone you can even save some money in some parts but thats your choice just sharing information.

I appreciate that Alberto, tks for your response. I know it's a bit overkill for CS:GO, but I want him to be good for whatever he decides he wants to play until college. Do you think the 16GB Ram is overkill?

im sorry that this is completely unrelated but why would you drop the ingame settings to get a higher framerate?
my 280X maxes this game in 2K with way over 300FPS there is no advantage getting 300FPS on a 60Hz monitor, just wondering why you are doing this

many cs:go players tend to think that their fps matters. You can frame lock this game @ 144fps on a 144hz panel and you will have 0 difference between that and 300fps or whatever. You could frame lock $ 59fps and have the same experience.

oh so just people thingking higherframerate=better? that seems stupid but hey its not for me to say, thanks for clarifying that.
also for the OP that build will last ages and everygame i can think of would run of that no problem, hope he enjoys it!

The game sometimes get fps drops and if you are playing on a 144hz and you notice it thats why better looks doesnt give you any advantage only shadows do in some places and CS:GO doesnt have awesome graphics so you are not losing that much thats why, also some areas of maps are not really good optimized so you get drops.

yeah it is a bit overkill but for some upcoming games he will need that if he wants to play them fluidly, most games nowadays work totally fine with 8.
