Buying windows 8.1

So, I want to buy windows 8.1 from amazon, but it's a CD, Can I buy it, then through a CD drive, transfer the files to a 8GB usb and install windows from there?

I would wait until Windows 10 is released unless you need a new OS like *right now*. But you should be able to copy the ISO image on that DVD and transfer it to a stick since it's your own copy. There are plenty of sites out there describing how to do this (sorry...I don't have my instructions handy with me).

Alright, so should I just wait until windows 10 is supported by everything then get it?

If you can wait for Windows 10 (10.1 is for next year), I would wait. I know several people that have been running it since preview release versions and they have no problems...in fact it has improved frame rates on games (according to them). Most of the 8.1 hardware drivers work on 10 according to them. But again, if you need a new OS *now* then you should be able to create an ISO image to that USB.
