This is a powered USB hub (but with only a 2-prong power connection):

I didn't mean an external sound card or anything like that.

Also, if it's a Corsair, contact their customer support. It's probably a manufacturer defect, such as a bad capacitor. They normally make pretty decent products, and they have a good support team, from what I've heard, at least. I've never had to deal with them, fortunately.
Check a recording of the sound out in Audacity or some other recording software, and look at the spectrum. I bet the humming is at 60 and/or 120 Hz.

Simply put, that would mean your mic isn't properly grounded. You can see same effect when you get near/touch an oscilloscope probe. I can't say for sure whether this will work, but you could try a USB hub with a separate power supply (I.E. plugs into wall, preferably with a 3-prong plug).

That said, the mic is likely not very expensive if it's got this problem. You may need to just write a bad review and replace it.

The headset is a Corsair HS40, i am unable to plug it into a external powersupply due to the fact that the isnt external 3.5mm prongs, the USB powers the USB and gives sound etc. So isn't there a fix to this?
