Hey guys. I'm noticing that my 1TB HDD form seagate kind of makes some Buzzing noises sometimes, it's very Tiny but hearable if i put my ears close to my PC.

I have looked on SMART, but no bad sectors or anything. I've also gone trough the harddisk, but it dosen't look like there is anything wrong. And if often just goes away again. Any idea what it could be? The HDD is only like 2,5 years old

Thanks in Advance

Buzzing from the HDD usually has two causes.

A) It's normal. The read/write head moves around to read data spread over the platters. If it has to move back and forth quickly, it'll make a buzzing sound. These can usually be minimized (but not eliminated) by defragmenting your drive.

B) Something is loose, and occasionally the drive's vibrations cause it to resonate producing the buzzing. Make sure all screws are tight. Velcro or cable tie down anything that's loose that could be causing the buzzing (well, except the fan). You may even want to try adding rubber grommets to the screws holding the HDD in place.

All hard disks make noise and the way it's mounted into the case (isolated or not) can make it a bit noisier. It definitely is low if you need to put your ears close to the PC to hear it. Use Seatools to check your hard disk. You didn't specify the model number; is the warranty 2 years or longer?
