The model is a 3+ year old Asus R558UQ
i5-7200, 4gb RAM.

The hdd died about 6 months ago, replaced it with a 500gb seagate disk but it has started to give me the same issues, despite being relatively new. planning to buy extra 4gb ram but not sure if that alone would solve the problem.

The loading times are painfully long in general, takes about 6 minutes to boot and be ready to use and browsers and games often stop responding if I do stuff very fast.

Im not sure what's causing this. could it be the mobo or cpu aging, or just that the hdd is failing again despite being only 6 months old? if yes what could be reason?

secondarily if i get an ssd, is it possible to replace the dvdrom? and are the cheaper brand like Kingston a recommended purchase?
