bypass update error

HP Pavilion Pentium - Windows 7. Can't update to sp1. As I have a program that requires sp1.
I finally installed a sp1 version in another partition (was sp1 so no update was requied). When I want to use that one application I boot to the sp1 partition. All my other apps are on the non sp1 partition.

Will this work and maintain my applications:
Boot up in the SP1 copy of windows - Backup the system 7 sp1
Then boot to the non sp1 partition and do an image recoverRecovery to non sp1.

if you do a recovery recovery on the nonsp1 partition you will need to reinstall of the other app that not on the non sp1

not sure of your meaning:
save system backup of sp1
image recovery of sp1 onto the non sp1 (does this wipe out the previous non sp1 apps)

if you do image recovery it replace the existing one
