Bypassing the router in a modem/router combo

This is probably a simple question, and I'm fairly certain I know the answer, but I'm just making sure first.

I'm moving into a new place pretty quick, and my ISP has just introduced those lovely (read: awful) modem/router combos. I want to use my router running DD-WRT however. If I disable all firewalls, etc. and the DHCP server on the built-in router, and then have that all enabled on my DD-WRT router, everything should work, right? That way the combo unit would basically just be acting as a modem.

Thanks,

- Jesse

I think you're SOL. You can't put it into Bridge Mode like a DSL Modem/Router and make the internet connection on your own router. Just get your own DOCIS 3.0 Cable Modem.
