C drive keeps filling up and WinDirStat did something weird

Hi guys, first of all, sorry if my english is bad i dont speak it too well.

ok so like i said my C drive (SSD) keeps filing up for no reason, i've search for answer for a while now and cant find what the f... is happenning.

i've done everything i can on my own, even download WinDirStat to see what is taking so much space and now im so confuse

my SSD says its full :

but then i check with WDS and it says that my Cdrive is only 51G:

Whats happening? i dont understand please help

Windirstat is not showing system files & folders & that is why there is a difference.e.g.default pagefile on a windows system is usually 1-1.5 times of installed ram & if hibernation is enabled on system then that is also equal to around same size as installed ram.There is also system volume information folder that saves system restore points & by default is set to use 10% of any drive if enabled.

Run windirstat as admin(right click,run as admin option) & it should be able to show you these hidden system files & folders.See the below link for reference:

so i just run wds as admin and its the same 51.6g

Can you see pagefile.sys,hiberfile.sys & system volume information folder in windirstat tree listing?If not then go to explorer ribbon options--view--options--change folder options.Then in new opened window select view tab & uncheck "hide protected operating system files" & check "show hidden files & folders".After doing this you should be able to see the above mentioned files & folder in your C drive in windows explorer.

P.S.Don't delete any such hidden system file/folder without doing thorough research.

Those look like windows update related files.Try running disk cleanup & once it is finished running,select "clean up system files".It will again do an analysis & when it is finished & give you options to select,see if there is some update cleanup option is there.Select it & then let it run.

i use avg PC TuneUp regularly but even then its not enough

Then do what I suggested earlier & at least check how much space pagefile,hibernation file & system restore(& maybe recycle bin) are taking up.

Not possible,see my laptop's C drive after these settings applied:

Even if you have disabled hibernation & page file,still the other files & folders like swap file,program data,system volume information etc must exist on your/any windows system(program data only on win 7 & above).

If you can not see a structure like above in your windows explorer then you are not doing it right.Also instead of relying on 3rd party software,right click & select properties to see the size of these hidden files & folders in windows explorer.

My suggestion is 1. buy a 1 TB SSD and put it in an external enclosure or any of the devices on sale that will connect the SATA drive to the machine via USB. Clone your C: drive to it. Make sure that your cloning software will make the drive active and bootable. The free EASUS will do this. 2. Replace your internal SSD with the one that you just cloned. 3. Relax. You will have just saved yourself hours of work now and for years to come.
