C drive lost

Out of nowhere I turned on my computer and nothing will open. No Google, no IE or any icons on the desktop. The odd program that tried to open, after 5 minutes message (program not responding) came up and it shut down. I've rebooted and and restored to a different time a number of times and no change. I hope someone can help.

download Malwarebytes antimalware update and do a full scan, ensure rootkit scan is enabled. Sounds like virus and adware issues to me. What antivirus you are using and have you set to manual updates and have not updated in long time?
