Hi...so this will be my first build and after a lot of research, I think I have something that will work well. All that is left is my cable management and case choice. I won't be able to buy a case until I get to where I am going (moving overseas). I'm not sure how important case choice is with regards to cable management.

I want to have sleeved cables (pre-sleeved) and I would like to know exactly which ones I will need buy. I will have to take all the parts with me and build over there.

So these are the parts that I have chosen;

AMD FX-8320
MSI 970 GAMING
MSI Radeon R9 390
Avexer Blitz 1.1 Dragon 8GB 1866MHz
OCZ ARC 100 120GB 2.5"
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC-2000 PWM
Corsair H100i GTX.

If my calculations are correct I will need a 700W PSU...again I will get that over there (too heavy).

Thanks for any help...

Solution
For the best cable management with sleeved cables, get a fully modular power supply. The cables you'll need for it will come with the power supply. Go for the 970 not the 390. As far as a case, the bigger the better for cable management, something like a mid tower would be fine. Any good quality case will do just fine. I like Corsair cases.

Well I guess with the GPU, it's a case of future proofing. 8GB vs 4GB (really 3.5 from what I understand). Also it seems that the R9 390 performs just as well, if not better, than the GTX 970 at 1080p and does better at higher resolutions.

I understand that I will need a fully modular PSU but what I really wanted to know was how many of the sleeved cables I will need for the hardware that I have chosen.

Would a kit like this cover everything;

or would I need more cables like in these kits;

thanks for the help...

For future proofing, the Maxwell gpu in the 970 is more modern. The 390 has the same gpu as the 290. Also the 970 has memory operating at higher speeds. The 8gb ram in the 390 helps at resolutions above 1080, but overall performance goes to the 970. It runs cooler and uses less power.

For the cables, you don't need extensions as that would make managing them more difficult. The cables includes with the power supply are long enough for a full size case, and with the better power supplies some come sleeved. You could always get a sleeve kit if you wanted to. I've rarely had cables on a power supply too short to go where they needed. The cheaper units gave me issues, but the good quality ones didn't. For your build, you'll need (3) sata power cables (the extra for the cooler), a PCI express cable with either 2, 6-pin connectors (970) or a 6 and 8-pin connector (for the 390). You'll also need a 24-pin main ATX connector and a 4+2-pin auxiliary connector for the CPU. Some of these like the sata come with 2 connectors per cable. Get a good quality unit from Corsair, EVGA, Seasonic, or Rosewill. Thermaltake makes good ones as well.

Solution
To be honest I'm still in two minds about the GPU...At any rate, I've got 2-4 weeks to decide.

Thanks for the info about the cables...it has helped. Now I have a direction for my research!

Glad to help! For gpu, I'd lean towards NVIDIA. They are using the most modern tech right now. AMD has released their totally new Fury cards, and they're pretty amazing (stock water-cooling), but because the technology is so new (the HBM), it might take a little while for it to mature and for game and software designers to adapt to the drivers, which AMD has had issues with of late. Because of that, I can't recommend them (plus they're too expensive anyways) because the GTX 980Ti is just as good, if not better. However, give the Fury cards time, and I think AMD will iron out the wrinkles, but by then, we might see a counterstrike by NVIDIA. So, unless you're going to be gaming at 2k or 4k with 2 displays and don't mind the noise, go for the 390, otherwise, the 970 is my pick.

Best!
