Cable modems to connect ethernet between floors

I use direct tv. So I have unused cable tv running through my house. I had previously modified a couple dsl modems. But there not as good. I was wondering If any one may have some ideas on using old cable modems.

Unsure of what you're trying to do here, but doubtful that additional cable modems are the solution.
