Cable testing trough an unmanaged switch

I will be soon wiring my new house and i was wondering if i could plug an rj45 cable tester in a switch and go test the different outlets in the different rooms. Is there danger of damaging the switch, or it would simply not work?

Yes, you can do it in that way and will work without problems.

With a very expensive tester yes you can do it this way.

With a normal tester (one not costing $5k + ) no it wont work that way.
You need to remove the wire from the swtich and test them individually that way.
Doing it the way you asked about will resullt in bad test results and likely a fired tester or switch.

Get something like this: "Generic-TET-028-2MX-p-Network-Cable-Tester"
It will do a basic continuity test and show you if all the wires are in the right place and connected end to end.
