I just updated from a ~20-year old case. It did not occur to me that switching from mini- to mid- tower and top- to bottom- mount psu might cause cable length problems. Given that I'm on a very tight budget, I'm looking for the cheapest (sane) solutions to :

■PATA cable too short (between master and slave).
■24-pin 12v mobo power cable too short.
■4-pin cpu power cable too short.

I've considered:
■Get cable replacements.
■Get cable extensions.
■Get a PATA->SATA adapter.
■Replace the IDE lightscribe DVD writer with a SATA version.
■Replace the power supply.

I can't believe I'm looking at spending more than about $10 on this nonsense. Does anyone have any suggestions?
