I have a Canon G2 and it states the 35 mm equivalent focal length is 35 to
102 mm. Looking at a picture that I took yesterday, the EXIF data shows the
focal length as 8.3 mm. How would I convert that to the 35 mm equivalent?

Thanks.

>Calculating Focal Lenght

The actual focal length of your lens is 7mm-21mm. The 35mm equiv. is
34mm-102mm. Divide the 7 into 34 or 21 into 102 and you get a 4.85 multiplying
factor.
When you read the EXIF , multiply by 4.85 to get the 35mm equiv.
Several programs that read the EXIF info will have an input for the 4.85, so
the 35mm focal length will show, instead of the actual focal length.
Hope this helps.
