it says

please insert correct disc and start again. ????????????????????????????????

JUST SPOKE TO MY WIFE AND SHE SAYS SOMETIMES THE COMPUTER WILL RECONISE HER CAMERA MEMORY CARD AND SOMETIMES IT WONT?????? IS THIS THE SAME PROBLEM???? WHATS WRONG WITH MY COMPUTER?

Wow you really like Capslock....

When you put the Modern Warfare disc in the drive and the computer doesn't do anything, press Windows-button + E --> this brings up the system explorer, where you can doubleclick on the dvd-drive to get it running.

If this doesn't help, try reinstalling the game from scratch.

You've paid for the game, so as another solution you could go on the internet and look for a no-cd crack for it.

This crack will trick the game and make it seem like the disc is in the drive even though it's not.

I had to do the same, I installed all the patches up to 1.7 and had to install a no cd patch for it to work single player, I think it's a glitch on some CD's with Vista and windows 7, works fine on my XP machine.

I know this is an old post, but if you have not figured this out yet, or for anyone (like me) who is currently searching for the solution, I have found the files. I am running windows 7 and encountered this same problem.

-First, Go to computer
-Go to Run
-type "%appdata%"
-Now up in the directory bar it should say your username on the computer --> appdata --> roaming
-you dont want to be in the "roaming" folder so click on "appdata"
-You should now see a file in udername --> appdata that is called "local"
-open local
-find "VirtualStore" and open it
-Open "Program Files"
-Open "Activision"
-Open "Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare"
-Now you should see the Players folder

If you dont know how to get to the configuration files from here just simple open "players" then "profiles" then whichever profile you wish to configure. You should see "config" and "config_mp" Config is the configuration files for single player. config_mp is the configuration files for multiplayer. If you want to run both in windowed mode, open the config files and use Ctrl. F and find "fullscreen" change the value from "1" to "0" This should set the game into running in windowed mode at whatever resolution you set the game to.

I hope i was able to help!
