I bought a call of duty: a modern Warfare remasterd game from the Microsoft Store.

So the game doesn't start at all. I don't get any error code. The game just flashes and goes off.

What has been done:

-win 11 clean installation.
-game re-installed multiple times and on different discs.
-Firewall checked
-background programs removed as far as possible
-bios has been updated
-win11 is up to date
-video card driver has been updated

-prossu: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
-emolevy: Asus rog strix x570-f gaming
-muisti: DDR4 32gt
-näytönohj: Nvidia Geforce gtx 1660 super.
-kotelo: Corsair Carbide 200R ATX-kotelo
-virta lähde: Corsair 650

I don't have Steam or anything like that.

Any help?

Ilkka

Solution
nothing shows in event viewer at time?

i can find a fix for the Steam version but it doesn't apply to MS games. They stored completely differently

Try a clean boot and see if it changes anything - make sure to read instructions and make sure NOT to disable any microsoft services or windows won't load right - https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

if clean boot fixes it, it shows its likely a startup program. You should, over a number of startups. restart the programs you stopped to isolate the one that is to blame.

Application Error 0xc0000005 (Access Violation) error is usually caused by your computer not being able to correctly process the files and settings required to run a particular program or installation. Despite the error showing when you try and use particular pieces of software, it has many different causes including faulty RAM problems, errors with the files of your PC and issues with the settings of your PC.

Search for powershell and run it as admin

copy/paste this command into window:

Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth and press enter

Then type SFC /scannow and press enter

First command repairs the files SFC uses to clean files, and SFC fixes system files

SFC = System File Checker. First command runs DISM - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/what-is-dism?view=windows-11

I do that and install game again and now it seems working.

Thanks a lot, Colif, your help.

#seems to be a problem with this file, and I can't find it anywhere?
Maybe run an antivirus scan as thats my auto reaction to files I can't find elsewhere.#

This one i dont quite understand.

If you not having the error now, I wouldn't worry about it.

I wonder if its part of the game, but I don't find anything with its name online. even if I play around with name like search for H1_boot64 or boot64_ship.exe
I can normally find something to work with.

s1_sp64_ship.exe Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the closest I can get to that file name.
h1_boot64_ship.exe - I think its part of the game, perhaps launching it given name.

there is a mod for the game called h1
https://github.com/h1-mod/h1-mod

looked like just an access violation in h1_boot64_ship.exe
part of the game. must have been fixed with the game reinstall or game update. could also just be the game required some windows component that windows had to install before the game would work.
a lot of times the only way to figure this out is looking at the setup log for the game. Or sometimes the game will make a hidden dump file in the hidden appdata directory for the game. Not really a issue if it is working now.
