I have
1 GB DDR2 RAM
Core 2 Duo @ 2.2 GHz
1 GB nVidia 9500GT
I had no problem playing games like Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Mafia 2, COD 6 mw2,etc.... but everytime I play COD 7, the game crashes after sometime with the following error msg
"DIRECT3DDEVICE 9:RESENT FAILED:RAN OUT OF MEMORY(-2147024882)"
Plz help... I updated my graphics drivers about 2 months ago......... What should I do???

take it as divine intervention and start playing battlefield! no only kidding. Either lower the settings or uninstall and load it again, maybe it got corrupted in the numerious updates, but looking at your ram you are a little on the short side, can you afford to bump it up a little?

My brother has a half decent setup including a GTS450, he found that a big must is a half decent CPU so he didn't bother in the end (gone off subject a little there) but I'd certainly get that memory of yours upgraded!

What speed of DDR2 is it?

you need more ram like everyone is saying to you. 2gb ram is what you will need at the minimum so i would get your self a 2gb stick would not be to much more than geting a 1gb stick of ram then you would have no problem with having 3gb of ram

make sure you have the same speed modules of ram or it will slow it down. if you had 6600 and a 6000 it will run a bit slower so i would get the same ram speeds but a 2gb stick if you understand

I tried to update my GPU drivers to 275.33(latest)... but everytime I try to install it fails as it installs nVidia Control Panel.... i uninstalled the previous version before installing the new one..... can anyone help????

When you install the drivers, the Control panel gets installed as well. If there's any problem, the installer should give an error message at some point.

One look at your system specs and anyone can tell you that your PC simply isn't good enough. There isn't enough memory, it says it itself in the error. Time for a new rig.

Also, not being able to play Black Op's isn't exactly a bad thing, try BF3 when it's out 😉.

How to do so??? 😱

It's not going to help them learn what software may be causing any conflicts though is it? Especially if those conflicts lead to the sort of problem the OP is having.
