Calling all Mechwarriors

Looking forward to Mechwarrior online? I haven't played it since mechwarrior2 but I have to admit it was alot of fun and the new incarntation looks pretty good. But recently while surfing the net I tripped over this little, soon to be released, item from Razer that looks like it's going to be the must have for serious mechwarriors with money to burn. No details on pricing as yet but looks like just the thing to put you in the cockpit of a thundering mech.

Niiiiccceee. I think razer has just lost a sale and ripleigh have picked one up 😀 It's just gonna cost me a fortune in shoes to get this past the budget director aka wife You're right though, it's going to be a good year to be a mech-pilot.

I think this is an unproven peripheral until MWO is released. We don't know how well mouse/keyboard will work in the game, and if we even need a peripheral like the Artemis. We also don't know what it brings to the party over and above what some joysticks bring. I'd personally want to see the Artemis reviewed and understand how well it works in-game before I shell out on it. No details on how we can adjust the MWO interface have been provided, so we don't know if using the Artemis will disable the minimap display onscreen, or if existing devices (iPhone, iPad, other tablet / smartphone devices) will have apps which can be used in a similar manner to the Artemis display.

In short, as much as I'm a huge supporter of the BattleTech franchise, the Artemis has a long way to go before it proves itself...not least by demonstrating it works as it should in the game it's designed for. It won't be available for MWO Open Beta, although hopefully it will be for release, so until then it's all just speculation.

If the Artemis can be used with other games, such as the Armored Core series, which uses every single button on a controller, and it is responsive, then I would buy it.
