Hey everyone!

I've been planning on upgrading my CPU for some time now but with all the Ryzen hype I waited until the launch to see if this was a good upgrade for me and I've decided to go for the R1700, my minds made up and there is no turning back :) I'll be upgrading from my i7 4770K and will mainly be doing content creation, video, photo, audio, 3D editing. I do game casually but that's not my main priority.

I guess I'd just like to hear what did you upgrade from and what are your experiences are so far with using various programs, Adobe CC suite (premiere, after effects, photshop mainly), Cinema 4d, Blender...basically anything that is taking advantage of the CPU's.

Also what motherboards and ram are you using? I was always big on Asus boards mainly because of their Fan Expert software within AI Suite, it really does a great job controlling my fan settings without much effort. Overclocking was ok on my current Asus Pro Z87 Pro but I eventually just did it manually. However I'm open to anything at this point. Are you using B350, X370? Which one and why? How successful have you been running higher ram speeds? I've been trying to keep up to date on all the BIOS and RAM issue updates but it would be nice to hear some real world experiences.

Lastly, I'm not going to be buying a Titan X, or recent Titan Xp anytime soon (way out of my budget), even the 1080Ti is 1k here in canada, so what are you guys using? 1070, 1060, 480? I'm hoping Vega comes out soon and at least competes with the 1080 or 1080Ti at a better price point then it'll be a no brainer.

Anyway would appreciate any input or feedback from my fellow content creators.
Thanks in advance!

I would stay with I7 4770k, the performace diffrence should not be so diffrent from what you are using.
But any x370 motherboard that has bios updates, as high Mhz on ram as possible.

I appreciate the response but I have to disagree. Single threaded applications yes, no difference and even slightly slower performance but I will mainly be doing video and photo editing as well as 3D.

As mentioned, I just want to hear what current Ryzen users are experiencing and what set ups they went with.
