I golt the Kraken x61, and I really like it, I got idle temps at 19-21 when I'm using my 6700k as CPU and GPU.

The software that came with it, is also pretty cool with a lot of cool ideas in a package that looks pretty cool and all the features that track your fps and temps in diffrentgames( haven't tried this cause I'm waiting for my GPU) seems cool.

But I feel it almost does more harm than good, If I click around for a while, it almost always crashes on me, and I've had times when it actually does a ton of load on my CPU, I was idleing at 30-35 C, and I saw my cpu had 15 usage from CAM, I turned it off and checked with my other program, the temps dropped back to 21. But other times it works flawlessly, uses almost no CPU power, anyone else had this problem and know a fix or something?

Cause I think it's a cool little program, but it's just annoying as hell.

Regards, Noiz

I like the CAM interface, and the overlay for games to check on various info.

However, being an AMD CPU user/owner I question temperature readings and find it very CPU heavy. I haven't experienced a crashing issue with it. Are you using the latest version? (Mine is v3.1.2)

Yes, I read on the feeback page that 3.1.2( I have this aswell ) is full of preformance bugs. They said stability and preformence will be better in 3.1.3 that should be right around the corner according to them, so we just gotta wait I guess.

But ye I read that the reading are terrible on some AMD devices, I have used other software to check and the readings on my intel i7 6700k seems accurate. But I guess the readings on AMD CPU's is something they are working on aswell, hopefully.

For AMD CPUs, only AMD Overdrive is recommended and that measures temperature completely differently. Still confusing though. But I half suspect NZXT tried to remedy the AMD CPU temperature issue with a succession of fixes and updates a couple of weeks ago... which sent my temperature reading to below room temperature.

I read NZXT want to do even more with CAM eventually, like allowing overclocking. Should it come to pass, it will be a very neat thing to have.

I've been using Cam for a while now, also have an x61. Do like it. But I have an intel cpu. AMD cpus are different, nothing reports them very well other than Overdrive.
It already had gpu OC, which is pretty basic but ok, but I'm not a fan of software OC on a cpu. The only issue I have is that it doesn't report my hdd/SSD correctly in every area, just one or two.

btw I have an i76700k at 4.6Ghz now, running at 58C in AIDA64 Extreme, is those temps okay? It's the trial version of AIDA tho, dunno if that makes a diffrence

Problem with Aida64 is its inconsistency. It doesn't pull a continuous load, but a varied load. This isn't so bad on an aircooler which has a much faster transient response, but with an aio it gives the liquid time to balance at a lower temp. The best to use is prime95 v26.6 pulls a continuous 100% load over the 1/2 hour or better it takes for liquid balance and accurate temps with an aio. But 58°is encouraging.

What is this about something wrong with the newer versions of prime95, I think I tested once with prime95 before I OC'en and got like 65C but that was on version 28.4

Versions of prime95 newer than 26.6 have heavy AVX usage amongst others. It's normal for apps to have a small amount of AVX usage, but nowhere near the levels of usage prime95 has. Because of the huge amounts of usage, temps are driven unrealistically high. This results in a psudo load of like 120+% which won't ever happen in any app or heavy game usage. Temps 15°C or higher above 26.6 100% small fft are not uncommon and this affects mostly lga1150 and newer cpus, the older Sandy's and Ivy Bridge lga 1155 having a looser architecture and able to deal with the heat better.

It makes this program unreliable for thermal limit testing. Kinda like doing a test for car acceleration while facing down an extremely steep mountain road.

I didn't run it for long cause I heard bad things about last versions of Prime, so I wasn't sure about what to use, I'm gonna do a longer test tomorrow on Prime v 26.6.

But this is only at 4.0Ghz, I guess my resaults will be alot worse on like 4.6Ghz..
