Camera Nikon DSC D5100 not recognized

Hi all,

After two hours trying to connect a Nikon camera to my Windows 8 laptop, I come to you in desperation, hoping you can help me

Here are the facts:
- This camera used to be recognized by this very same computer months ago (cant tell what changed during that time, not my own computer neither camera)
- The camera is perfectly recognized in different computer (running Windows 7)
- After deleting the camera from the device manager, the plug-play dialog shows up when plug it in. It seems to be installing but after a while...you see yellow sign for the camera in the device manager
- The camera is never shown as new unit in Windows Explorer
