Question Can’t open anti-virus in safe mode. Please help

Hi I have a problem where every time I try to open Windows defender in Sade mode (minimal or with networking) It gives me a white page that just says”Security At A Glance: see what’s happening with the security and health of your devices and take any action needed”. There is no button to scan or do anything and if I try going to defender settings it says “the system detected an overrun of a stack based buffer in this application”. Malwarebytes doesn’t boot at all in safe mode either, when I click nothing happens. Both defender and Malwarebytes run fine in normal windows and I did scans on both and found no threats, however, there is no way for me to check offline scan results for defender because there is no button to view scan history at all. Can you guys help me figure this out?

If you want to run Windows Defender but want to be in 'safe mode', you can schedule it to run at your next restart.

1. Go to Settings, Windows Security.
2. Click on Virus & threat protection.
3. Click on the blue link 'Scan Options'
4. Choose Defender offline mode.

Steps worked on my system.
