I don't know much about PCs and this is my first build.

I want to stream Halo at 1080p60fps and play Halo MCC on PC at 1080p 144 frames+

This is my current build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/mLhNyk

The budget is around 1k. I found a great deal of 3600mhz 2x8gb RAM and wanna see if it is compatible.

My friend suggested I get a 2700X instead of a 3600 as I can dedicate 4 cores to gaming and 4 to streaming but if I upgrade to a 3600 will it be able to handle streaming and gaming and also can it handle 3600mhz of ram

Solution
Both of them will run with 3600mhz ram. The 2700x may have a slightly harder time achieving it but it should still do it.

AMD themselves have said 3600 for the 3rd gen is the sweet spot for ram. And should have no issue running it.

Yes 3600mhz ram will work with both of those CPU's.

Not sure what that guy is talking about it not working. AMDs website lists its minimum speed for best performance on that website, not the max speed.

2700X or 2nd Gen Ryzen may not handle 3600MHz RAM. This is because 2nd Gen's memory controller is not as good as 3600.

From Gigabyte website:

Most BIOS's have updated their BIOS to accomodate more memory compatibility. You CAN use 3600mhz on gen 2.

Probably no. The limit is from CPU, not BIOS. 3rd Gen Ryzen can run different clock for Fabric Clock and Memory Clock. But for 2nd Gen Ryzen, FCLK and MCLK are synchronous. This is why 3rd Gen Ryzen can run at much higher DDR4 frequency.

Bro.. there are literally videos and plenty of documentation on youtube and google showing and supporting the use of 3600mhz ram on Gen 2 (2600/2700) chips.

Heres 1 example.

Limit is the BIOS only. I had my Kingston b-die 3600MHz running at 4000MHz on Asus prime x470 pro with 2700x and 3700x with latest BIOS and AGESA 1004b. Only problem was sky high latency (Cl 28)which brought memory performance worse than at 3600MHz Cl16. but that's memory's limitation, not because of CPU or BIOS.

It looks I have bad luck. My 2600X/2700 cannot POST ADATA 3600MHz (Samsung B) on Prime X570-Pro. but my 3700X can do 4133MHz 18-18-18-38 .

Just because it doesn't work in your system, it doesn't mean that 2nd gen ryzen can't be paired with 3600mhz ram.

You, and others, don't get it. Will it run? Yes. Will it be an upgrade over 3200, in a lot of cases, no. You only reap the benefits of running PC 3600 memory on any Ryzen chip if you can run the infinity fabric (FLCK) at a 1:1 ratio. If you can't, you introduce latency which negates any possible performance increase of using the faster memory. On the 2nd gen ryzen CPU's the memory controller is on the same die as the cores, and as a result cannot be uncoupled and can only run at 1:1. Your gambling on the silicone lottery that you will get a 2nd gen CPU that can do it.

So saying it will "work" is misleading at best.

Yeah, there might be a few posts/videos of people that got there second gen ryzen to run it's FLCK at 1:1 at 1800 Mhz, but there are many, MANY more that can't.

Get the 3600x and you can feel assured it will work as you intend it to. 3rd gen ryzen has an improved infinity fabric.

"On Ryzen systems, the latency and available bandwidth for all connected components like the DRAM controller, PCIe bus, etc. is based off the Infinity Fabric speed (FCLK). All of this occurs in an interconnect AMD calls “Infinity Fabric.” The Infinity Fabric clock speed (FCLK) is configurable and directly relates to the memory clock (MCLK). For Ryzen 3000 CPUs, most will run a 1:1 ratio between FCLK and MCLK, which can be considered “synchronous” operation, up to 1,800MHz. There may be instances where the FCLK may be set to operate in an “asynchronous” mode (not a 1:1 ratio), which may introduce increased latency, thus negating any performance benefit. However, for extremely high MCLK values (> 3,600MHz), asynchronous operation may actually increase overall performance, at the cost of stability. "

If you want to stick with the Ryzen 2700x, go with some good DDR 3200 with a lower cas latency of say 14 (although the ddr 3600 you linked might run at DDR 3200 CL14, no guarantee though.)

Very true YET, from what I understand, the infinity fabric is known to reliably hit 1800 mhz and with the bandwidth of ram is 1/2 it's clock speed making 3600 ram the theoretical max and maintaining the FCLK /MCLK 1:1 relationship.
I am VERY interested in finding 3600 ram as my mobo toasted and took the ram with it SO I replaced it with a Asus TUF X570 and still have my healthy 2700X (all still not up ) because I REALLY want to use 3600 ram with... Why... In a year plus I will go 3900X or what makes sense then and DON'T want to have to buy new ram... If possible.
So is there any other reason you might think a 2nd Gen CPU wont run 3600 ram?
Thank You. DON

As previously stated, It will run, yes, you just have to down clock it to 3200 speed.

I also had a 2700x that maxed out on two different motherboards at 3466...on two different sets of B die memory...anything higher regardless of timings wasn't completely stable.

Those same sets of B die have zero issue hitting 3600mhz @ cas14 on my Ryzen 3600...on the same motherboards...one an x570 MSI and one is an x470 Asrock board.

Yeah I completely disagree with 3600 working on Zen+. Less than 15% of Zen 2 CPUs i bet can run 3600. It's super rare.

3466mhz is the average max most Zen+ chips can run at.

The Ryzen 5 3600 has a higher chance of running 3600mhz for sure. But beware, it is the most likely to not be stable. Cause it is the lowest quality binned Ryzen 3rd gen CPU. I've seen reddit posts about some 3600's not able to run 3600mhz RAM.
However, I will add, most 3600's can use 3600MHz RAM. So I would still take the plunge on it. Worst case senario, you have to underclock to 3500mhz.

THIS HUGELY depends on motherboard too. B450 and X470 will have a much harder time running 3600mhz (though it is still possible for sure). X570 should be able to run it fine though.

Yes and no.

MOST Ryzen 3000 series are RATED for 3600 speed RAM. (The exception is APU's: Ryzen 3000, Ryzen 3200g and Ryzen 3400g are based on Zen+)

2700x (Zen+) is NOT rated for 3600 Mhz memory. However many people have successfully clocked up to this speed. That said, it depends on the quality of the RAM, Voltage, motherboard, and number of RAM banks filled. I personally cannot get my Zen to go past 2833 C16 with all banks populated.
