Since they are essentially the same cards? Thinking of picking up another card either this summer or winter, and I already have a 7970.

Also, crossfired 7970s along with a i5 3570k @ 4.2 GHz should last the next three to four years at high-max, or should I add a third one in the future?

Solution
Yup, they crossfire fine.

Are you only at 1080p/60hz? One 280X/7970 would come close to maxing that, a second would definitely get you there. A third card is usually more driver trouble and headaches than it's worth.

As far as I know. Yes you can Crossfire those two cards. However I would not recommend getting a third car, because the increases is so little that you would be wasting your money.

Yes, you can. Also long as the architecture is the same (Tahiti in this case), you can crossfire. Meaning 280x,280,7970,7950,7870 LE/XT can all crossfire regardless of brand or model numbers. You don't want to go there cards as they will be little no benefit in almost any game.
