Can it be done? I found a 5770 to play some games that I like (like bf3 and skyrim) on a low resolution.

The PSU itself is an Antec earthwatts 380w, here's a label of it from newegg

CPU: Phenom II X4 940
RAM: 4GB ddr2
Three hard drives, two of them are laptop 2.5" 5400 rpm, one is 3.5" probably 7200 rpm.
One exhaust 90mm fan and one 120mm fan on a cpu cooler.
The exact GPU i'm looking at is 5770 HIS 1GB version.

Solution

Let's not spread false information, Antec Earthwatts PSU's are actually very good quality units made by one of the best OEM's, Delta Electronics. They're just not used for gaming very much and are better suited to more Enterprise roles or home servers with a lot of up time.

That being said, the 5770 requires at least a 425 Watt PSU:

So upgrading to a good quality 450-500 Watt would be a good idea

So I found a used Antec EA500D for cheap and even though it's old, that would still be enough, right? I know I shouldn't be modest when buying a PSU but wallet forbids me from going more.

Yep, you're good to go.
