Question Can a 4+4 CPU connector on a PSU be used for motherboard power on a Dell Optiplex 3020>

The EVGA 600w PSU I just recieved has a 20+4 pin motherboard connector while my motherboard gets power from an eight pin connector. Could I ise the 4+4 cpu connectors(which do fit into the eight pin motherboard connector)to power the motherboard and the +4 from the motherboard power cable to power the cpu?

I Understand that an adapter would be ideal, but I was wondering if what I described would work or not. It all fits like it should work.

No it will not work , would result in damage to the board and possibly the PSU too.
