Can a 4k monitor run on a Dell XPS 8500?

I would like to buy a 4k monitor and use the full resolution (3840 x 2160 @ 60hz) with my Dell XPS 8500. I do not play games, only work related projects. Everything I have on the 8500 is still stock including the GeForce GT 620 and 460W PSU. I'm wondering what I would need to upgrade in order to run a 4k monitor at full res.

No it can not, 2560x1600 max digital resolution and no display port. You would need to replace the graphics card with one that does support 3840 x 2160 and has a DisplayPort port, which is pretty much all the current gen ones. If you're not sure of a specific Nvidia GPU's specs check geforce.com

OK, so a new GPU it is. Does it matter that most of the current cards are PCIe 3.0 and my board only supports PCIe 1.0? Would I still be able to get a full res of 3840 x 2160?
