Can a 600watt power supply safely run a 290?

That's the recommended specs. Being right at it kind of spooks me. I have the 280 on order right now, but I'd cancel it if I could safely handle this card. I'm looking for some future proofing here. If the 280 is pretty future proof, then I'd gladly take it though.

What CPU do you have? Unless it's ridiculously overclocked, you'll be just fine.

Thank you. I have an i5-3570k as well, I assume that's not a big deal power wise either?

No, not a big deal at all. In fact, it's not possible to overclock it far enough to overtax that PSU

If you look at the Anand link I posted it is done with a 3960X overclocked which is way more CPU power draw than the 3570K.

I have the corsiar 500 and 600 power supplys you should be just fine.
