Hello everybody,

I'm thinking of buying the following power supply unit: Antec High Current Gamer 750W Modular Active PFC 13.5cm psu HCG-750m.

My question is can it support a system running on a fx-9590 cpu and a r9 290x gpu? Assuming the system is busily handling a modern game on high specs, is 750w enough?

Thanks

I consider a 750W PSU to be the absolute bare minimum when using an AMD FX-9590 with a Radeon R9 290X.

Stick with your original choice of the Antec HCG-750M since it should have a sufficient maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating to handle that CPU & GPU combination.

Thank you for answering.

I forgot to mention I wish to purchase 1 HDD of 2 tb and 2 SSD each of 240 gb. Does it have any impact on the wattage?

I also think I should have anywhere from 2-4 fans I suppose. What impact would this have on the wattage?

Would 600w be enough for all that?

If you're planning to overclock the FX-9590 into the 5 GHz range you better be looking for an 850 Watt PSU.

The CPU itself will be drawing over 310 Watts through the 8-pin CPU power connector when the FX-9590 is OC'ed to 5 GHz and running at full load.

A 750W is the bare minimum if no overclocking is being planned.

Thank you both for answering. From what I gather from you, either 600w or 750w can be considered a bare minimum, then.

And no, I am not planning to overclock. No idea how to do it even xD
