can a 850w tier 1 bronze certified psu handle a gtx 970 sli setup?

Yes - easily. Even a 750 would be fine.

No. That's to do with efficiency. Not quality.

The EVGA are Gold rated - higher efficiency.

The one you have is fine and will work well for SLI.

As I said - you only need 750W. If you already have it then keep it. It's a great PSU. See http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html#xtor=EPR-8886 - it's in tier 1 with the best quality power supplies that you can buy.

hmm... i was thinking about buying the g2 but the evga g2 750w costed 1.5 times the cost of the xfx pro xxx 850w here in hungary when i bought the computer so it was out of budget 🙁
