can a core i7 7700k and a gtx 1080ti run 4k games at 60fps?

I want to build a pc with a gtx 1080ti and an i7 7700k for 4k gaming but I want to know if I'll be able to run games at 60 fps or should I get an i7 8700k instead

At 4k 60fps the cpu is slightly less important as you only need to push 60fps, a 7700k is more than enough but I'd actually go 8600k just because its newer and slightly better. You could even go 8400 without issue.

It's only when pushing 100+ fps do you need top end cpu power. Resolution makes little difference on cpu load.

I would go for the i7 8700k simply because the 7700k will be on a motherboard socket that has already been abandoned by Intel. It would be better future proofing as well as better performance. The i5 8600k I find is a more ideal gaming chip unless you want max performance.
