Hi, short story. I sold my old cpu (AMD phenom II : x9 965) i wasn't sure if it was working or not. to some guys i found on the internet. Now that guys contacted me saying that his motherboard died because of that dead cpu, and he want me to buy him a new motherboard(and other stuff that might have died). 100€+

Can a (already)dead cpu burn a motherboard? Or did he made a mistake using that cpu with
his motherboard? Or is he lying?

*He is using a old motherboard with a cpu socket for 95W cpu
*I had to change computer(the one using the phenom) in 2013 because i had a black screen with a blinking white bar in the top right corner. And i didn't know where the problems was coming from.

I don't plan on paying him, i'm probably going to ignore him, hoping he doesn't find me.

It's pretty much impossible. But even if it did mess his components up he did it at his own risk if you sold the CPU as is and let him know before hand that it might not work. So if you did that then you aren't responsible for any damages. It sounds to me like a scam possibly.

Don't ignore him, that can be against the law. Tell him that it is not the fault and you are not gonna pay him until he shows some hard facts
