Can a DisplayPort do 240hz?

I am getting a monitor, and I was wondering if displayports can put out 240hz at 1080p, I have looked everywhere on the internet and have not found a solution.

Displayport 1.2 and up supports 1080p 240Hz. Just depends on if your GPU has Displayport 1.2+ (not sure why it wouldn't, but I'm just sayin').

DisplayPort 1.2 is capable of 1080p 240 Hz. Course you will need to verify your graphics card is display port 1.2 but anything current should be.
