Can a driver overclock?

My computer made some automatic updates today, and afterwards cpu z tells me my CPU runs at 2,8 ghz where as it normally runs 2,5. Can also see the voltage is slightly increased. Is it possible a driver that was installed overclocked it?

Your CPU was probably in power saver mode and this time it was closer to a full load.
