Can a DVI-D male fit into a DVI-I female and work?

Basically i want to purchase a gtx 1060, and the port on the back is a DVI-D while the port on my monitor is a DVI-I. So im wondering if i can just purchase a DVI-D cable and it will work? Thanks!

Yes. The only difference between DVI-D and DVI-I is that DVI-I also carries analog signals for use with a DVI to VGA adapter.
