I've possibly had 3 boards arrive DOA, however that is unlikely. Ive narrowed it down to my power supply or cpu frying the motherboard. I think it is more likely that the psu is the issue but how likely is it the cpu causing the issues?

Solution
It's extremely unlikely; it's more likely the PSU, which is actually a source for power. I've never personally run into a CPU that caused damage, though it's not technically impossible for it to in some way; I'm a helpful hobbyist, but I'm a middling journalist for a living, not running a PC shop.
