I have the AMD HD5770, at 900 MHz and it also has 1 Gb vram. However most modern titles need atleast 2gb vram according to the can i run it website. Does this really apply to all games or if I turn down the video settings to the bare minimum will i still be able to play say fallout 4 at 1080p.

With that card, you'll have to crank the settings way down, or lower the resolution altogether. You might get decent frame on Low quality presets at 1600x900, but that's all.

The problem in the case is not the graphics quality itself, the problem is the resolution in your monitor. it eats a lot of Vram (almost 2GB of newest cards) so, can you play it? Well, you can, low everything and if you can, resize to lower resolutions, it will be playeable.

So I could probably run it at decent frames if I lowered the resolution to 720p and had the graphicsat low or minimum?

I already have one, its actually my friends old card. I'm just waiting for the new Polaris cards to come out before I decide what new card to get in the future and I just dont want to miss out on the current titles meanwhile.
