Can a gtx 970 work with an adapter

Hello!

I made a build for a friend with a msi GTX 970 gaming and I bought a Corsair CS450M, 80 PLUS Gold. But then while making the build I realized that PSU had only one 8-pin connector while the msi GTX 970 gaming needs 8-pin + 6-pin.

Can I use an adapter to get the 6-pin connection or is it better to just get a new compatible PSU?
If the adapter option is possible which one should I buy?
The PSU would have two SATA connections available and two molex that could be used for the adapter.

CPU: Intel i5 6600K
Motherboard:Asus MAXIMUS VIII RANGER Intel Z170 LGA1151
case:NZXT S340 Mid Tower ATX
hard drive: Seagate Barracuda 1 TB 7200 rpm
GPU: msi GTX 970 gaming
RAM: Kingston Hyper X 16 GB DDR4 2133MHz

Usually using these adapters are a bad idea. Nvidia requires at least 500w for gtx 970. I would recommend getting a good quality 500w+ power supply.
