Can a gtx1050 work on the Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 Motherboard

I'm having no output on my monitor from my gpu, it's a motherboard powered gpu, and the old one works fine

Your GeForce GTX 1050's VBIOS expects the motherboard to have a UEFI BIOS. Your motherboard only has a legacy BIOS hence the lack of video output. The only solutions are to buy a new (i.e. more modern) motherboard and CPU or buy an older graphics card that supports a legacy motherboard BIOS.
