I got a free HP Proliant DL380 G5 server, wondering if it can play modern games if I put in a radeon 7750 into the pcie slot. The slot is size x16 but runs at x8 speed. I remember hearing somewhere that not all 16 lanes/bandwidth are used yet in cards, don't know if that's true. Nothing intense, just occasional 3d games on weekends.

What can I expect? Estimated frame rates?

CPU: Intel Xeon Processor E5440, 12M Cache, 2.83 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB, 64 bit, quad core
RAM: 6GB DDR2

Thanks

Can I run the newest games on max settings on a 1280x1024 screen and get a good framerate?

The server doesn't have a pcie power connector for more powerful cards, is there such thing as an external psu that powers just pcie cards?

Is the 7750 the best card with no power connector required?

Thanks
