can a motherboard botteneck a build

i have a msi h81m-e33 could the motherboard be bottlenecking my game fps in game. i feel like people with similar builds get better fps and was doing some research and maybe thinking it is my motherboard. and if it is what should i replace it with.

i agree with the comment, and here is my take, the board has little contribution in terms of performance. However, since you have an unlocked (k) cpu, and a very good gpu, there will be instances (games that likes high clock speed) wherein games could be running faster IF you overclocked your cpu. This will give you more value also for your cpu.
So, given that, technically, your mobo is causing the bottleneck
choice of motherboard has very little impact on performance outside of features, stability and ability to overclock. clock for clock, they are all pretty much the same

what is note worthy is you bought a k processor for overclocking but went with a h81 chipset, which is not for overclocking
 
sadly i let me friend choose my build because i dont know much about things but apprently he does not either i will prob upgrade my motherboard soon then
